The Mission of Meals on Wheels Association of Georgia is to enhance the ability of meal providers to end senior hunger in Georgia through advocacy education and collaboration.
In 2015, Georgia providers of senior nutrition services who saw the value of the support and advocacy provided by Meals on Wheels America came together to form a state association, the Meals on Wheels Association of Georgia (MOWAG). MOWAG is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
We are an association of organizations committed to being innovative, health-minded, collaborative and resourceful. Our General Members are diverse, nonprofit mission-driven providers of home-delivered and congregate meals, nutrition education and food access programs dedicated to providing seniors with the resources they need to live a healthier, improved quality of life in their own homes. Our Associate Members are organizations not involved in the direct provision of meals who support the mission of Meals on Wheels and the work of senior nutrition providers.
We offer our members peer support, professional development, sharing of best business practices, a unified voice through advocacy, and information regarding senior nutrition, funding opportunities, and linkage to national efforts through Meals on Wheels America
Meals on Wheels Association of Georgia is affiliated with Meals on Wheels America, the oldest and largest national organization supporting community-based senior nutrition programs across the country that are dedicated to addressing senior hunger and isolation.
Vision: An America in which all seniors live nourished lives with independence and dignity.
Mission: To empower local community programs to improve the health and quality of life of the seniors they serve so that no one is left hungry or isolated.
Meals On Wheels America is the leadership organization supporting the more than 5,000 community-based programs that are dedicated to addressing senior hunger and isolation. This network serves virtually every community in America and, along with more than 2 million staff and volunteers, delivers the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks that enable America’s seniors to live nourished lives with independence and dignity. By providing funding, leadership, education, research and advocacy support, Meals On Wheels America empowers its local member programs to strengthen their communities, one senior at a time.
